Disney Endings Redux
I just watched Hunchback last weekend with my boyfriend, and I couldn’t let this sit on my dash without a reblog.
I just do not understand why Disney picks such stupid things to make children’s movies out of, when there are already so many happy-ending stories. Classic tragedy, check (Hunchback). Historical figure who dies of consumption alone on a ship in a strange foreign country, and whose uncle-figure (NOT LOVE INTEREST) is horribly disfigured in a fire and she sees him one last time before she dies, check (Pocahontas). Fairy tale where the princess loses her voice, constantly feels like she’s walking on swords, DOESN’T get the prince, throws herself into the ocean in despair and becomes seafoam, check (Little Mermaid). Stockholm syndrome, check (Beauty & the Beast). The worst offenses to me,though, are Hunchback and Pocahontas. DON’T MESS WITH CLASSIC LITERATURE AND HISTORY, DISNEY!
